INGREDIENTS:

  1. Fish - 5 - 6 pieces
  2. Ginger Paste - 1/2 tsp
  3. Garlic Paste - 3/4 tsp
  4. Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
  5. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  7. Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Salt - to taste
  9. Curry Leaves - 2 twigs
  10. Coconut Oil

PREPARATION:

I have used medium-sized Parrot Fish / Kili Meen. Clean the fish very well in lime juice and rock salt to remove the fishy smell. Kili Meen is my favorite fish, I love to have it as curry or fry. How can anyone not like fish fry, it is so tasty and makes your mouth watering. You can adjust the spices according to your spice preferences. This is a very basic mix of masalas, you can add your own personal twists to make it better. You can use Fish Masalas available in the market as well. This is for all those who are new to the world of cooking. A very simple one.

In a bowl, add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, pepper powder, kashmiri chilli powder, salt, and lemon juice. Make it into a nice paste form. Apply on the fish pieces and let them rest for about an hour. The fish should be lined / slited thoroughly so that the flavors of the masala get into the flesh of the fish.

In a pan heat some coconut oil to shallow fry the fish. Once the oil is hot, place two twigs of curry leaves on the pan, so that the fish won't get stuck to the pan. Shallow fry both sides of the fish for about 5 to 8 minutes in medium flame. Don't throw away the fried curry leaves under the fish it will be crispy and tasty.

Serve with a fresh slice of lemon and onion rings. And the curry leaves too. Try out this recipe when you buy fish at home next time and tell me how it came out for you.

See you all in my next cooking blog!
